In Lafayette Oregon ten states and a bunch of places later. Sorry we had no time to keep a diary. We were snowmobiling swimming climbing ... Shit we stayed at The Hilton had to pretend I was blind but the sheets were soft and our feet were tired.
We saw many brown pelicans at Hatteras Inlet today
Many of the Outter Banks islands had wild ponies on them, possibly left over from shipwrecks.
The NPS manages the remaining small herd of about 30 ponies on Ocracoke Island.
The ponies were fenced in when the highway was built.

These were by a pond right across from to the parking lot. It was unseasonably warm this day and they seemed to be taking advantage of the sunshine.
I believe this is a cloudless sulpher, but it could be a clouded sulpher - I don't know anything about butterflies so am trying to ID from internet resources...
Mom took this, thought the bird was pretty brazen to take her parking place!
