Aparently during one od the wars, invaders came from Myanmar to Ayutthaya and knocked the heads off all the buddha.
In Ayutthaya... hidden atop some stairs in a remote area of the grounds of the ruins of a Wat... were these new statues.

If you take a photo of the buddha with yourself of a friend, you mus get down so that your head is below buddhas
The ruins themselves were pretty amazing, but the yellow and orange cloth on the buddha was a beautiful touch.
