Reminds me of a Tim Burton classic...
Some sort of sweet glutinous rice thing
This was the first sign I saw that reminded me I was living in a communist country!
Taoist temple supposedly built on the site of an ancient wine shop. Those crafty monks! :O
Saw this one as I was coming down...perhaps it's for those who can't reach the top/don't want to climb in the dark?!?
Doesn't do the actual views justice (again)!

kuai = yuan for you uninitiated folk.
Lots of incense burning, praying and...padlocks?
...written by successive emperors who have climbed (been carried) up Tai Shan.
Climbing more stairs from what we had previously thought was the 'summit'
Alas, as soon as I unwrapped the incense sticks, they started crumbling and breaking apart so...I kinda unceremoniously just threw them into the fire. Er, I still get my good luck right?
This was more than half-way up the blommin mountain!!!
Here come the tourists/pilgrims!
Thus food gets pricier as you go up...though maybe it's a parabolic curve because there's a cable car that goes to the summit??? HMMM.
...WOW...I can actually read all the (big) words! (quiet there fluent Chinese speaker, I know that they're all the 'easy' words :O).
...when/where are you supposed to hang these up? Any old tree? (My favourite personal theory is where they could go no further? Thus I was determined to hang my red armband only once I reached the summit...!)
...plus all manner of other spiritual stuff.
