looking at the temples at Angkor Wat in Cambodia can take forever, unless you're a kid and decides do it to running
just because you are novice visiting the temples at Angkor Wat doesn't mean that you don't mean that you don't stay in contact with friends
A shot of me with the woman who wanted to be King. How she got around it? She claimed that the god Amon came to her mother during the night in disguise, and he is actually her father. Oh yeah, and despite outward appearances, she claimed to be a man!
This place was lovely to see at night - in the cool of the evening. It was unfortunately pretty hard to photograph in the dark, and I don't know anything about it as there was no guide or information given. Nice though, huh?
The innermost shrine of Horus. This was a pretty hard photo to get as it was dark inside... Compared to other things we have seen, the comparative preservation of these items is pretty amazing.
This is Horus, the ancient falcon god. He is attributed with making the sun rise and set and the moon wax and wane. It's actually pretty funny - once a year they would carry a statue of Horus' wife into the shrine and leave the two alone together... ;-)
This temple is famous in Egypt because it is so well preserved. The Egyptians are particularly proud because this shrine to the ancient god Horus was actually built by a Greek (they take it as a compliment to the 'strength' of their culture that the temple is so authentic!)
Apparently this is a smaller replica of a famous one in Hanoi.
These are the steps leading to the main temple in the Viet Monastery
