Go figure. . .
Angkor Wat after sunrise. I managed to get up at 5.00a.m to go see the sunrise, Dad'll be surprised I was up in time! Unfortunately there was too much cloud cover to see a spectacular sunrise or sunset but the place was magical anyway.

The amazing face towers on the east side of the Bayon in Angkor Thom. This is one of my favourite temples and it has some beautiful bas-reliefs and apsaras.

Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang
These are the ruins of the 6th to 8th century Hindu temple of the Chams. It was then transformed into a Buddhist temple a few centuries later. It has a few similar features to some temples of Angkor Wat, the windows and pools especially.
These jars date back to 2000 B.C and according to our guide were used to bury the bones of people after cremation. It was a very peaceful area but had been heavily bombed by the American Air Force during the Vietnam war. There is still a lot of unexploded ordinance left to be cleared in the region. The Americans have been too busy bombing other countries to return to Laos and clear up their bombs. So much for being a responsible superpower eh?
