This was at Aransas NWR. One of the three Whooping Cranes in the middle of the bay is a young one.
This was at Aransas NWR
This time, Mom took a picture of me feeding the birds.
The Ranger at Aransas NWR called this a 'Mexican Eagle'.
This is a large raptor, more common south of the border but occasionally seen in south Texas.
We saw this 'Mexican Eagle' along the road as we headed to Aransas NWR.
In Texas, we're beginning to see White and Brown Pelican's together. These guys seemed to know what time the fish place throws out their trash.
This is very american!!
These are also referred to as gallinus. They are a close relative of the coot.
These were at a city park just off the freeway. Immature birds can have dark flight feathers.
This was at the same city park as the White Pelicans.
This has black legs. The Great White Heron looks almost identical, but has yellow legs and is a morph of the Great Blue Heron, not an Egret (though they are related)
This group swam together, then would all poke their heads underwater to feed.
On top off the Stubnerkogel, 2250 meters, (Bad Gastein) watching the birds of prey
The weather was decent today, but the birds seemed to still be bunched up together waiting for it to warm up. A small tricolor heron is in the middle of the egrets.
There are several of these at the campground. Also known as mules - they are a cross between Muscovy and Mallard Ducks, and like mules, are sterile.
It was very stormy today. These egrets too refuge in this protected area of the bayou.
There were several cardinals walking around the campground this morning.
Up Close and personal so to speak ! These guys were brilliant and really inquisitive
When we stopped for lunch, we found out that Terns are very good at in flight refueling!
