Muztagh Ata peak - is one of the highest and most popular summits of the Pamirs. Muztagh Ata rises over the Karakorum highway for 4000 m and reaches an absolute altitude of 7546 m. The name Muztagh Ata means "Father of Ice Mountains" in the local Uygur language. It is third highest summit of the Pamirs after Kongur (7719 m) and Kongur Tebe (7595 m).
