Mom liked this fellow a little more than I did I think.
It was pretty cold and well into the afternoon, so Mom didn't really want to get out. She did want to see the sand dunes, as well as the Atlantic Ocean & Delaware Bay though.
The weather was warm and sunny (& this in November!) We both loved it.
Mom & I decided to visit the Topiary Gardens about 5 miles north of Newport, Rhode Island
The bush behind Mom is trimmed to the shape of a large Bear (Topiary).
This is the entrance to the recreation of the village of Plymouth, MA as of 1627.
It was cool and windy, but we both enjoyed the sunshine and the Atlantic Ocean.
Mom noticed a beach named after some of her ancesters in Eastham, on Cape Cod and asked me to drive to it. When we got there, they didn't allow any parking anywhere! I stopped long enough to get this picture of Mom at 'her' beach however.
I couldn't figure out what she was doing. She said she was 'flying' in the wind.
You can tour Adams Homestead by starting in downtown Quincy visitors center, which sends Trolley's to the different home sites.
Mom decided to take the tour of the old sailing ship. We had to go down two levels using these very steep steps. She actually did pretty well!
The North Bridge Visitors Center in Concord, MA has manikins dressed in period costume.
The National Park Ranger was kind enough to pose with us. A ranger stays at the bridge to answer questions. There are about 1 million visitors a year to the Lexington Concord battlefield.
Mom was really surprised to actually be able to see tree's through this, it is still functional.
This was built in 1766 and was actually visited by George Washington, John Hancock, Lafayette and my mother and I!
Sorry this is such a poor shot, but it's a good picture of Mom.
This Fort Knox is NOT the one with all the gold in it, it is in Kentucky. However, this was named after the same General, Henry Knox who was America's first Secretary of War and Commander of the Artillery during the Revolutionary War.
Most people visit old forts to see the gun emplacements and such. Mom prefered the Lichen.
Just to prove we were really there. The geographic center of just the US is somewhere in Kansas.
This pioneer village actually had two schools, this is the older one.
Mom remembered having a toy Tea Set like this one when she was young.
We got a lead that the Chowder House in Eastport might be the location of the old Stinson Cannery
Mom snuck this one in when I wasn't looking...
The sky was pretty overcast, but you can get some idea what the tree's looked like.
Mom & I toured both the Quarry and the Factory owned by the "Rock of Ages" company.
