Dean was our wonderful cook for xmas dinner. First time i have had a full turkey!
Nearing night, which at this time of year is about 3 in the afternoon....
So these are the main garden in salzburg, beautiful, and also appearing in 'The sound of music', what i like is that the Salzburg Fortress appears in the background, almost everywhere you are in the city.
Okay, i didnt take that much coaxing, but hey....these stairs are quiet famous :-)
Also famously known as the 'do ray me' bridge!!
This is the grave yard which inspired the hiding place of the von trapps in the movie....it is a cute little place almost locked up and built into the side of the rock face.
Although they are frightening and not very appealing to the eye, Perchten (Alphine demons) and Krampusses are an original Salzburg Tradition. Ms. Percht is the goddess of the aplhine region and patroness of unmarried women and children. The 'rough nights' are a time in which no on should work or do laundry. On the other hand, the Krampus personifies the devil and accompanies St Nicholas. The terrifying masks and disgusies are designed to dispel the evil natural forces of winter. Those who are swatted by a cows tail or rod should be grateful: it is said to be a blessing and bring happiness.
A pretty little town in Austria....
Enjoying not only the scenery, but making fools of ourselves....this is the tree lined avenue which leads to the front of the von trapp house (actuallly a different house from that of the back...)
Well...not really, this is the house which was used to film all the scenes on the terraces and such....also the famous kids in the water scene as well.
Taken a Aarons Farewell....
