Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre
We had to wait for the 1300 delegates to the 11th Party Congress to leave the Convention Centre. They were transported from hotels by our house all the way down to south of Hanoi, in buses, with police car and motorbike outriders and the whole route was brought to a standstill. Here we waited and waited. Nick managed to get us to the front of the queue and I could see over everyone's heads and when the last delegate bus was coming through.
The eggs were all in plastic bags - the sort of very thin plastic that doesn't give you much confidence with regards to its strength. However, seeing them strewn around Hanoi and in the lakes, they are rather too durable. However, this lady with her eggs was quite extraordinary and even the taxi driver I was with slowed up, pointed and laughed. Notice that the motorcyclist has a wide berth: normally they all driver within inches of one another...
