Horus at Edfu Temple

This is Horus, the ancient falcon god. He is attributed with making the sun rise and set and the moon wax and wane. It's actually pretty funny - once a year they would carry a statue of Horus' wife into the shrine and leave the two alone together... ;-)

Me and Sphinx

My buddy Sphinx ;-) Actually not the only Sphinx - just the biggest - this dude is the tallest statue in Egypt. We weren't allowed to go close enough to touch.

Kum Iam Statue

This 20m-high bronze figure, emerging Virgin Mary-like from a 7 meter-high lotus in the outer harbour, is probably the only statue of the goddess of mercy in the world not facing the sea.
