Try as we might, we couldn't locate this bird - not even in Sibleys (I'm sure it's there, I just couldn't find it -yet).
This is my neice, Denise, and her husband Ken and son Kale.
It was quite dark and difficult to get enough light for a sharp picture. This is the best of several attempts.
Seems appropriate to see Oregon Junco's in Oregon?
These are quite small and move around so quickly, it was tough getting a shot of one.
My uncle Bill is semi-retired, but still likes to putter around in his shop.
This has been restored and probably looks a little too spiffy for a working train depot.
I think my Uncle wanted to pose by teh railing because he had turned these pieces in his shop...
This is actually the back side of the house. My pictures of the front didn't come out as well...
People in Salem have built a beautiful new (but old style) carousel. Here are my Uncle Bill & Mom posing by it.
This is a detail of one of the carvings along the top of the Carousel. Each one depicts a scene from Oregon.
The horses are all hand carved. They even offer classes in carousel horse carving!
The Carousel is housed inside the Glass area of this building in downtown Salem, close to the Willamette River.
This is an asian restaruant, but also has several other menu's. The food was quite good and reasonably priced.
I was very impressed with the detail carving for the carousel horses. These are truely an art form.
My uncle puts out food for the deer and squirrels, but some prefer the bird food.
This is where my uncle lives a little outside of Salem. He has many, many bird feeders around his house.
This unusual door is upstairs, leading to the master bedroom.
Notice how high the tank is mounted on the wall. This was common for early toilets.
One of the unusual features of this house is the use of stained glass.
Mom had fun pretending to type on the antique manual typewriter.
Unlike most historic homes we've toured, Deepwood allows you to sit on the furniture!
The gardens at Deepwood are almost more famous and more visited then the house.
Here is my uncle Bill and Mom posing in the gardens at Deepwood.
Teh dining room door and glass windows are curved.
