It just made me laugh. It’s right above the entrance to Westminster.
The cloisters at Fontevraud are some of the finest in France, if not Europe. This image was converted to B&W in Photoshop CS3.
The abbey is a must see, must photograph place. The vaulted ceiling stands well over 180 feet and the brownish pink sandstone and marble architecture make for some great images.
Just couldn't get over the beauty of this small chapel at the abbey. It was so serene and the light was perfect. Again, the abbey is well touristed and it took a little patience to get this image without people.
Solesmes abbey is active and large in size. This is the north wall walkway in springtime bordering the abbey.
Due to mud I was unable to explore any further than the bordering road.
Monks' dormitory and frater, and the splendid cloister, completed about 1200 is well preserved, and is one of the finest Italian cloisters both for size and beauty of detail now extant. It is about 16 m², with pointed arches decorated with diaper work, supported on pairs of columns in white marble, 216 in all, which were alternately plain and decorated by bands of patterns in gold and colors, made of glass tesserae, arranged either spirally or vertically from end to end of each shaft.
