These were in Rio Grande Village.
The building is currently being remodeled, but they have set up a temporary center in the rear.
These are common residents in the Rio Grande Village area at least.
This version has no large, thick spines, but still has the small hairy ones. Notice that some animal has taken a bite out of one of the platyclades.
There are about 30 kinds of Prickly Pear Cactus, 27 of them grow in Big Bend NP.
This is actually a beaver pond. It is next to the campground at Rio Grande Village. The Rio Grande River is in the background.
We saw several different color Prickly Pear Cactus, which surprised us a bit.
The Group campsite has fairly easy access to the Rio Grande River, which suited Mom just fine.
The fossil exhibit is in the structure on the right. The plastic was too scratched to be able to see much however.
Mom is demonstrating just how big some of these cactus plants grow.
This was on the cliff across the river from the Rio Grand Village, on the Mexican side.
This was near the fossil exhibit, somebody left it in the parking lot. We told the rangers about it at Panther Junction.

There were many Cardinals at our campground at Rio Grande Village, sometimes flying right by the RV.
