Usually the locks are ingraved with the names of a newly married couple, of course for good luck.
Note that there's a unique middle part made out of boats strapped together with planks of wood! Perhaps they ran out of stone? Or perhaps, instead of a drawbridge, this middle bit could be quickly dismantled to let big boats through on the River Han? Who knows...
