On clear days, you can see great views of the sprawling metropolis of Tianjin down below. Christmas Day was one such day :) N.B. Look at some of those skaters...they look like peaceful folk no? Not in reality! How were we suppose to know that sledgers had to stay on certain ice? We slid ourselves on 'their patch' of ice and before we knew it, we had instigated an ice-turf war and we were swiftly pushed off by some angry skaters (our delight at being pushed to greater speeds was probably NOT the reaction they had wanted/expected). Something about our ice picks putting little potholes everywhere in the ice. Oops.

Mmm...perhaps not the safest of ideas but meh, we were delirious with Christmas cheer (and some home-brew mulled wine). Here's me and Natalia doing some snow angels on Tianjin's partially frozen river! Ha ha, we later did some salsa dancing on top of the ice but that, you shall not see.
What could have been more Christmassy then this!! Christmas mornings are usually sedate affairs but we actually went out and went sledging on a frozen lake around the TV tower. Despite Katie's initial trepidation, Laura and I eventually convinced her to come up and thankfully, the ice was thick enough for us three! We then went up the TV tower to the sightseeing platform to witness the snowy scenes around us! Brilliant!
Christmas morning saw me, Laura and Katie dancing around a Christmas tree to my '101 Christmas Songs' album like idiots. Then we tucked into Katie's cheese which she generously shared with us. Mmmm....cheese. One of the things I miss about the UK (along with family and friends of course!).
Spent Christmas in Tianjin where we had what was suppose to be a faithful recreation of a 'traditional Christmas meal'. Hmmm. Nevertheless, despite paying top yuan for that disappointing meal, the Christmas period as a whole was full of general merriment. Here's me popping out of a box after waiting for the Tianjingers to arrive at Katie and Keith's flat (who had kindly put me up for Christmas). If only you saw their faces when I let out an uncharacteristic santa roar :)
I spent Christmas in Tianjin where we had a disappointing recreation of a 'traditional British Christmas meal'. Nonetheless, Christmas was still a period of merriment - here is me after waiting AGES for the Tianjingers arrived in Katie and Keith's flat (they kindly put me up for Christmas). If only you could've seen people's faces when I popped out with an uncharacteristic santa roar.

Every Xmas, the mini train is built for the children to enjoy. In this case the train has gone and will not be back for another year
Father Christams is lved by all children and must be kept a friend. So saying hello to him can only be a good thing
You can't have Christmas without a tasty leg of roast lamb, baked potatos and some fresh caught crab.
