My travelmate and I had to get away from the really touristy Cartagena, so we decided to go on a whim so where. We stumbled upon the market and afterwards found our way to Cerro de Popa, the highest point of Cartagena. Inside is a Monastery and through the glass door I saw this view. I just had to take a shot.
Some of the robes that hang in the monastery at Cerro de la Popa.
Cartagena downtown at night is much nicer than the day. Durring the day it is swarming with tourists. This is a shot at night of one of the old rustic doors in Cartagena.
After coming out of Cerro de Popa we were hungry. All around are family run stalls. We decided to eat here and requested Arroz y Hueveos.
We wanted to get away from the tourist areas of Cartagena so we wandered that day. Before heading off to Cerro de la Popa we found ourselves at el Mercado, or the Market. There are kinds of interesting walks of life here. This was the best places to find locals, since the rest of Cartagena was mostly full of tourists.
It was night and we had booked a place that said it was in Cartagena. The driver did not know of the place and later we found it was in a small fishing village named La Boquilla just outside of Cartagena. When we arrive at late night we got to the place and surrounding areas were filled with shady people. We instantly that night booked another place for the next day. The next morning we woke up and found the most amazing site. La Boquilla beaches were just fantastic looking. Here my travel mate decides to just stand and enjoy the view as I took a picture while Cartagena is in the background.
