Looking out over Grant Park on our way to the family gathering. Lake Michigan is in the background. Trust me, it's there but you just can't see it in this pic... Oops!
After a day of walking and a large serving of weinerschnitzel, Phil was ready for a nap back at Hotel Hell.
This piece of artwork is life-sized and anatomically correct. (It was dusk and my hands were icy cold - sorry for the blur...)
I'm not sure what this is suppose to be, but it is from Notre Dame in Paris. (It looks a bit dodgy regardless...)
Above Dublin was this piece. It reads: Ancient Temple, Honan Province, China.
Next to the brick reads: Old General Post Office, Dublin.
The Tribune Building contains pieces of other structures, from around the world, within it's stonework. This is from the Old Dublin Post Office.
Seen outside a radio station on Michigan Avenue. Phil found himself humming the Chicken Dance song for hours. (Must kill dancing chicken!)
Kris' mom departed and we strolled up Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile).
This is what you get when you stand directly under the "Bean" and take a picture straight up. It's a pretty cool and unexpected end result.
The "Bean" turned out to be one of Phil's favorite things to see. He kept commenting on how to film it.
Architect Frank Gehry designed Chicago's Milennium Park. The "Bean" is a great study in reflection and light.
Phil came to see snow so we found him the last remaining pile in the city. (Okay, maybe not the last, but close.)
Taking the shortcut through the symphony orchestra "pit" in Milennium Park, Chicago
Phil got to meet Kris' mom and she decided to join our little walkabout the city for a couple of hours. (Corner of Randolph St. & Columbus Drive - Chicago)
Not wanting to wear themselves out too quickly, they started with the little packages.
While the cookie dough "rested", I let them both play with scissors and tape. The first aid kit was behind me - just in case.
Phil: Step away from the mixer, Beer Boy! Beerman: I'm a scientist! Back off, Cookie Monster!
Beerman: Is it suppose to look like that? Phil: I don't remember - I was 6 last time Mom made these.
The glass says "Nothing else like it". Ha! A martini works for me.
Would you let these two loose in your kitchen after they've been tasting different beers (in pint sized glasses) for an hour?
