"Probably the most photographed mountain in New Zealand"
Wildlife around Milford Sound were incredible!
Do it. It's 100000% worth the money. We went with Rosco's Milfor Kayak's, which are the only operating company in winter. We stayed mostly warm and dry and the weather was spectacular, water clarity was amazing! It was an experience of a lifetime.
Couldn't have lucked out and have a better day down at Milford. Such a beautiful place, the photo's don't do it justice!
Definitely the party town of the South Island! A must for Ski-trip locations! We stayed in Nomad's backpackers which was central, affordable, nice and clean, and super fun with all the extra low-cost activities they provided (pub crawl to the Minus 5 Ice bar, anyone?).
Crossing from the west coast over to Queenstown takes you on the Haast Pass! Following the Haast river from its mouth at the town of Haast, up to it's source near where this photo was taken on the actual pass!
Franz Josef is amazing. We took the valley walk up to the terminal face, but apparently this walk is now closed. Such a pity! Next time I go I think I'll splurge and go on a helicopter ride to walk on the ice.
Nelson was such a quaint little town! We enjoyed the scenery, and made a quick stop at the shop that sells the Lord of the Rings rings!
The ferry to Wellington departed from and returned to Picton. Such a pretty little town with plenty of entertainment from the local ducks.
It was a dreary day in Wellington but it made me love the city even more! Where do you think the term "Wellies" comes from anyway?
Turns out I'm terrible at sea and will not be taking a rough ferry ride again any time soon. Motion sickness tablets are a must!
The tour company we joined were so friendly and fun. And we ended at a chocolate factory! You're speaking to all our needs, Highlight Wine Tours! Out half day tour consisted of a delicious lunch at Wairau River wines, a fudge factory, a couple more wineries, and the Makana chocolate factory (Butterscotch Slice is my recommendation!).
