Nick ahead of me walking back to the road and out of the pasture
detail of sad beautiful morning view
I knew we hiked all the way up there for a reason... beautiful morning
Everyhting is beautiful here... even my tent? maybe it's just me though
Scary shot through the trees. we were walking out of Kaukappakappa along a road and eventually up a huuuge hill to set up our tents and sleep for the night
I was hanging out with this little guy for a while. there were heaps of them out around Kaukappakappa
The radio station with a view!
city looks nice at night...Kiwi's big smoke... about the size of Edmonton or Calgary
This is the view from another radio station he brought us too...
well the dside of his head. he turned before I could get the shot and stopped trying
radio station studio in Auckland
studio this guy brough us up to. he built the thing himself
Beautiful rolling countryside, everyhwere you go
I was veery fascinated by these things.. I have eaten hundereds now... but I did test them before knowing what they were... fuigured one or two wouldn't kill me... very tasty
I took these pictures while hitching before I ate these things so if I got dreadfully ill/comatose, nick could easily show a physician what kind of palnt I ate...
horrible taxidermy something we saw in a store window. it was so aweful I had to take a picture. in mount Maunaugi
Taken from the roicks out in the water near the Mount, Tauranga, north island.
THese things define New Zealand as well. They grow everywhere. kind of like cat tails or fox tails but 10-15 feet tall soimetimes. this shot was taken at Mt. Maunaugi, where Anna is working. Near Tauranga
The Maouri, french, german guy picked us up.. twice. The second time he had this heap of precious stones... all kinds of crystals and such.. Labradorite specimines.. the whole works. he knew his geology too... we drove around trying to sell them to gemshops
Geothermal power is big here... this is an earthquake resistant power station near Taupo... I missed a shot of the huge string ofcollector pipes hissing steam against a sunset... would kill to have gone back and got that photo...
This is what most of the farmland around here looks like... took this shot while walking down the highway.. just before getting picked up by a nice Maouri lady
This country is so grren my eayes can hardly take it
if one photo could sum up the agriculture of new zealand, this would be it. Sheep everywhere! they outnumber people 10:1, swear to god. look it up.
