After a full day of hiking, still smiling with an hour or two left to go to Kalalau Beach
See how sensitive I am?
Kauai, Hawaii
Not as easy to see through photography (and I was too scared to take photos on the really bad parts), the Kalalau Trail has sections of extremely thin, washed-out trail that traverse cliff edges that hang hundreds of feet above the ocean. Many places are literally "No Fall Zones".

I'll miss them as much as the beach!
As a backpacker in Ngapali Beach, I felt a bit out of place and engaged romance with my mosquito net

The small village where I was staying was celebrating the full moon with a ceremony of candles and music. A significant Buddhist event.

The trek from Inle Lake seemed like a cross between the Lord of the Rings, Stand By Me and National Lampoon's Vacation (where Chevy Chase is running through the desert singing deliriously).
During our trek, we came across an empty school house. And then the kids returned from recess to find some strange white dude inside. They were kind enough to let me take a picture, but most decided to bolt for the door when the camera actually came out.
My amazing guides for 3 days from Inle Lake to Kalaw. I couldn't pronounce "Go-Fish's" name, but they told me that is what the translation was, so that's what they let me call him. They got a kick out of me telling them about the card game of the same name.

Can you pick out my shoes among all of the novice monks?
There is so much to love about Myanmar, but the government is not one of them. These fellas keep things under control at the Iron Cross concert.
Heading to the Iron Cross concert in Taunggyi, I got to ride on the roof of a "bus/car" with the locals. Quite common in Myanmar, these are pickup trucks with benches in the truck bed, and a roof rack used to carry passengers.
