Went for 3 hour snorkel trip round Gili Meno. Lots of turtles. Stopped for a snorkel at the wrecked Bounty jetty and saw 2 large adult cuttlefish. When I surfaced and told my wife about it, the boatman beached the boat and sent his son back to the village to get his homemade speargun. Motored back to the end of the jetty where he jumped in the water. I jumped in after him and managed to be almost above the cuttelfish when he fired and speared the first one. A immediate discharge of jet-black ink but surprisingly no blood whatsoever. The family was going to eat well that night.

Beach Outside Kontiki, Gili Meno

Got off the boat from Sengiggi, dropped the packs at Kontiki and went for snorkel straight off this bit of beach. Coming out in about 3 feet of water and saw movement to my right. Quick glance and saw a fecking huge moray eel (cream with black spots) barrelling towards me. Tender part of the anatomy closed with an audible bang and a fleeting thought of being air-lifted back to Perth came to mind before I realised that the poor beastie was dead and the waves were propelling it onto the sand. First the Okinawa sea-snake then this.

Rinjani

Hired a scooter for 2 days from our hotel in Sengiggi and motored to Senaru. Nice views of Rinjani and didn't realise that I had the first waterfall in the pic till I got home.

Hostel Ad For Traveluke

Might be a useful place for traveluke to stay in Naha, Okinawa. About $10 USD per night, close to the beach?? and the downtown action on kokusai-dori is about a 15 minute walk away.

Breakfast View From Mimpi Resort

Found Mimpi Resort mentioned in LP so checked out the website. Rate for standard double room was $95USD but got it for $80USD (breakfast included) when I e-mailed them. Another $55USD to get there from Tuban but was well worth it. Up through Bedugal and head west into a part of Bali I've never visited before. Beautiful resort which was virtually empty except for the odd Japanese. This was the view every morning from the waterfront restaurant. Four volcanoes in your face (all on Java I think which is so so close).

mossmonster

Did the cycling tour - pickup at Tuban hotel at 7.30 a.m. up to Kintamani for refreshments then bike down to Ubud for lunch through the mountain villages then home for Bintangs at the pool bar. Cost 350,000 Rup (about $40 AUD) and second time we've done it and GREAT!!!. Stopped outside a village Hindu temple and it was specky.

dogsurf

Kuta Surfing - just taking a walk from Tuban up to Legian for lunch at our favourite restaurant and caught this guy dogsurfing. Looks like he had it well trained, cause it was at his feet when he caught the wave and he would instruct it when to walk up to the pointy end. There's always something worth looking at around Kuta!!
