Mom & I both enjoyed this very much.
Mary was keeping the Museum open for it's last weekend before winter. She agreed to pose for a picture, but didn't seem too thrilled to do it. She was very helpful however and even ran the generator for us (simulated).
It was a quarter mile walk from the parking to the lighthouse, a bit rough for Mom, but she made it!
This is the lady that wrote "Misty", a childrens novel about the ponies at Chincoteaque Island.
The water here is naturally very black due to tannens in the water.
We are on the Chincoteaque National Wildlife Refuge, those are ponies behind us. Happy Thanksgiving!
Martha and Elenore were our guides while at the visitors center. I think they liked the sunny, warm weather as much as we did!
Most of the cooking was done downstairs. Mom was enjoying the variety of foods available on a 1700's plantation.
We stopped here because Mom had heard you could find fossels on the beach and wanted to look for some. It was quite cool however.
We stopped at the Du Pont Nature Center. Dawn Webb is the manager there and was very helpful
Mom liked this fellow a little more than I did I think.
It was pretty cold and well into the afternoon, so Mom didn't really want to get out. She did want to see the sand dunes, as well as the Atlantic Ocean & Delaware Bay though.

Celebrating 22 years (supposedly the luckiest in Haiti)!
Percy stayed in the Watch Room at the top of the stairs to greet climbers and answer questions.
The weather was warm and sunny (& this in November!) We both loved it.
This is Robert, who helps provide security for the Stowe center. Mark Twain's house is in the background.
After selling us tickets to get into the museum, she took us through the first part and told us a bit more about the museum. She was very nice, I think her name is Pat, but I forgot to write it down (ugh).
The Schaefer's Spouter Tavern is run by Dana. She not only sells sandwiches, beverages, pickles and pies to tourists, but does all her own baking and books for the Tavern! I tried a slice of her Fruit of the Forest Pie - it was excellant. She really loves her job and likes meeting all of us strange people who visit her establishment.
