The North Bridge Visitors Center in Concord, MA has manikins dressed in period costume. The colonial militia wore their regular cloths, then did not have uniforms at that time.
The National Park Ranger was kind enough to pose with us. A ranger stays at the bridge to answer questions. There are about 1 million visitors a year to the Lexington Concord battlefield.
This Fort Knox is NOT the one with all the gold in it, it is in Kentucky. However, this was named after the same General, Henry Knox who was America's first Secretary of War and Commander of the Artillery during the Revolutionary War.
Most people visit old forts to see the gun emplacements and such. Mom prefered the Lichen.
In Acadia National Park
The water was cold, but probably not colder then Washington State
Just to prove we were really there. The geographic center of just the US is somewhere in Kansas.
Mom snuck this one in when I wasn't looking...
This is JL working at one of the Sandblasting boxes at the "Rock of Ages" factory, making a souviner
The sky was pretty overcast, but you can get some idea what the tree's looked like.
Mom & I toured both the Quarry and the Factory owned by the "Rock of Ages" company.
The gift shop does a lot of busiess, but this is also their only factory location.
Mom was talking with this fellow at the Cider Mill, so they joked around again when we got to the Ben & Jerry's factory tour.
The first bus burned down, but they had this one out front, so I guess they replaced it.
This was in the North Beach Campground in Burlington, where we stayed last night
It rained most of the night, but was just cool and damp in the morning. There are a lot of islands on this lake, including some in the background.
Mom liked this Pedistrian Tunnel at the campground when we walked down to the beach.
We got to the Shaker Museum in Enfield, NH fairly late, so I got out Mom's walker. However, most of the museum was on the second floor, so she had to leave her walker at the bottom of the stairs and walk up. She skipped the third floor.
This is at Cohasset Beach in Massachusetts. The sand here was quite soft, the water was cold, but not as cold as Puget Sound (today anyway)
The local's are having trouble believing the weather, 82 F on Oct 5th? Boston should be colder by now
We had to mail some postcards and boxes and passed this Post Office while trying to find the Atlantic Ocean near Boston. Notice the Zip Code, 02025 - we're a bit far from my 98584!
