I seem to take a lot of pictures of waves crashing into rocks, doesn't take much to entertain me...
The beach is owned by the National Park Service, which doesn't charge for parking here! What a nice change from the CA state beaches...
Along Hwy 1 north of San Francisco, there are thousands of spots like this with rough surf and rough coastline.
There is access to the beach off of Hwy 1 down below, before it climbs to the top of the coastal bluff where the overlook is.
This isn't the Cliff House I remember as a kid, just a regular building at the same spot as a more historic one.
My sister, Que (left) was in SF for a medical conference, so Mom & I met up with her for a short visit.
The surf seemed especially high in the morning before we left the campground.
The wind was really blowing the waves as they broke along the beach.

On the beaches north of Santa Cruz, there were many many cars. There were very strong winds, which seemed to bring out all the aerobic water sports enthusiasts.
There were so many kite boarders on this beach I'm not sure how they kept from hitting each other!
I had to touch the water in the Atlantic, so why not the Pacific also?
Just a small sample of what we've been driving through for several days not. It varies a lot, but always interesting. This was approaching Half Moon Bay, in the Redwoods area.
The Pacific is on the west coast, so the sunsets are unbeatable!
Mom wanted a shot of seagulls in front of the setting sun, but this is the closest I could get.

There are a lot of views like this in Pebble Beach, as well as elsewhere along the California coast. This is the only section that charges you to drive it however.
There are many great views of the golf courses along the 17 Mile Drive. Almost all have signs "Private Property - No Tresspassing"
There are lots of interesting views along the drive, most are well marked, maybe over rated just a bit?
This was just outside the Campground area by Sunset Beach, very agricultural region still.
This beach is supposed to have one of the longest strands of sand in this area, but it may have been washed away in last weeks storm. It was just very rocky.
We pulled over at one of the many scenic vista points to enjoy the view.
Actually, most of the beaches on this part of the coast are quite small and inaccessable. Much of the shoreline is rocky coast, but very beautiful.
