Another shot of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, taken off the corner of Westminster Abbey in Parliament Square.
The statue is on one side of the Houses of Parliament, facing Westminster Abbey.
You can see all of the work that's being done to give this attractive, albeit timeworn, structure a facelift.
Taken from our tour bus, so it's not great quality, but it shows you the size and majesty of Westminster Abbey.
BENEATH THIS STONE RESTS THE BODY OF A BRITISH WARRIOR, UNKNOWN BY NAME OR RANK, BROUGHT FROM FRANCE TO LIE AMONG THE MOST ILLUSTRIOUS OF THE LAND AND BURIED HERE ON ARMISTICE DAY, 11 NOV: 1920, IN THE PRESENCE OF HIS MAJESTY KING GEORGE V, HIS MINISTERS OF STATE, THE CHIEFS OF HIS FORCES, AND A VAST CONCOURSE OF THE NATION. THUS ARE COMMEMORATED THE MANY MULTITUDES WHO, DURING THE GREAT WAR OF 1914 - 1918, GAVE THE MOST THAT MAN CAN GIVE - LIFE ITSELF. FOR GOD, FOR KING AND COUNTRY, FOR LOVED ONES HOME AND EMPIRE, FOR THE SACRED CAUSE OF JUSTICE AND THE FREEDOM OF THE WORLD. THEY BURIED HIM AMONG THE KINGS BECAUSE HE HAD DONE GOOD TOWARD GOD AND TOWARD HIS HOUSE.
An abbey in ruins.
The solitary remains of what looks like a side entrance of the destroyed abbey struck a cord with me setting there in an open field with the hill in the background on an overcast day

It just made me laugh. It’s right above the entrance to Westminster.
The Abbey in Howth
The cloisters at Fontevraud are some of the finest in France, if not Europe. This image was converted to B&W in Photoshop CS3.
The abbey is a must see, must photograph place. The vaulted ceiling stands well over 180 feet and the brownish pink sandstone and marble architecture make for some great images.
Just couldn't get over the beauty of this small chapel at the abbey. It was so serene and the light was perfect. Again, the abbey is well touristed and it took a little patience to get this image without people.
Solesmes abbey is active and large in size. This is the north wall walkway in springtime bordering the abbey.
Due to mud I was unable to explore any further than the bordering road.
Monks' dormitory and frater, and the splendid cloister, completed about 1200 is well preserved, and is one of the finest Italian cloisters both for size and beauty of detail now extant. It is about 16 m², with pointed arches decorated with diaper work, supported on pairs of columns in white marble, 216 in all, which were alternately plain and decorated by bands of patterns in gold and colors, made of glass tesserae, arranged either spirally or vertically from end to end of each shaft.

Located on a hill overlooking the town.
