Mmm...perhaps not the safest of ideas but meh, we were delirious with Christmas cheer (and some home-brew mulled wine). Here's me and Natalia doing some snow angels on Tianjin's partially frozen river! Ha ha, we later did some salsa dancing on top of the ice but that, you shall not see.
What could have been more Christmassy then this!! Christmas mornings are usually sedate affairs but we actually went out and went sledging on a frozen lake around the TV tower. Despite Katie's initial trepidation, Laura and I eventually convinced her to come up and thankfully, the ice was thick enough for us three! We then went up the TV tower to the sightseeing platform to witness the snowy scenes around us! Brilliant!
Christmas morning saw me, Laura and Katie dancing around a Christmas tree to my '101 Christmas Songs' album like idiots. Then we tucked into Katie's cheese which she generously shared with us. Mmmm....cheese. One of the things I miss about the UK (along with family and friends of course!).
Spent Christmas in Tianjin where we had what was suppose to be a faithful recreation of a 'traditional Christmas meal'. Hmmm. Nevertheless, despite paying top yuan for that disappointing meal, the Christmas period as a whole was full of general merriment. Here's me popping out of a box after waiting for the Tianjingers to arrive at Katie and Keith's flat (who had kindly put me up for Christmas). If only you saw their faces when I let out an uncharacteristic santa roar :)
I spent Christmas in Tianjin where we had a disappointing recreation of a 'traditional British Christmas meal'. Nonetheless, Christmas was still a period of merriment - here is me after waiting AGES for the Tianjingers arrived in Katie and Keith's flat (they kindly put me up for Christmas). If only you could've seen people's faces when I popped out with an uncharacteristic santa roar.

I was also in Tianjin for Halloween which was really good fun! I've never really celebrated it before but put in a fair amount of effort this year as did everyone else! We went off to a Halloween party in one of the Tianjiners' local haunts - with drinks flowing and copious UV paint around, things got VERY messy. Ah, good memories.
My Tianjin friends kindly paid for my train tickets up to Tianjin to celebrate my birthday again as they couldn't come down to Qingdao on my actual birthday. I had an awesome time - here's us about to embark on what looks like a fairly sedate ride but it was scream-inducing. I've never been one for holding back.
Room mates of the Sendai Guest House... lovely bunch!
Nice guy who shows me around Tohoku University
