I finally found a garden in 'The Garden State'. This was by the Barnegat Lighthouse Museum, which was unfortunately closed.
Anuradapura, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka
Mom & I decided to visit the Topiary Gardens about 5 miles north of Newport, Rhode Island
This tree is in front of the main house. Notice how large the trunk is relative to Mom, in the lower left corner
The bush behind Mom is trimmed to the shape of a large Bear (Topiary).
We met the nicest ladies at the Topiary Gardens near Newport, RI. These are (from left to right) Mary, Anita (& Bruce the cat), Mom and Linda.
Mom actually took this picture, I'm pilfering it for now since I haven't gotten her pictures uploaded for some time...
These were still blooming in the gardens at the end of October in New England!
The Topiary was started by Joseph Carerra, the gardener hired by Mr. Brayton around 1900.
The house was built around 1860 and purchased by Thomas Brayton in 1872 for a summer home. The view is of Narragansett Bay.
This is the front of the house that overlooks the water. The topiary gardens are behind the house. Upstairs is a toy and doll house museum.
There are about 80 topiary animals and other forms in the "Green Animals Topiary Garden" north of Newport, RI.
It was cold today, so I loaned Mom my warm jacket. The hedges trimmed into animal shapes are called topiary.
