The extraordinary catering arrangements at the temple complex, Amritsar

Over 25 000 000 meals are served here per year. That is around 70 000 per day. The food is unsophisticated but very good and the serving style unorthodox. All are welcome and nobody leaves feeling hungry.

This venerable gentleman was one of a number of monks we saw visiting the temples while we were here. The saffron robes make the sandstone of the temples positively glow.
