An abbey in ruins.
This is the site of the first ever pyramids (step pyramids, not pointed ones) and the first ever buildings made of limestone instead of mud. Designed and built by Imhotep (of "The Mummy" fame) - an architect, astronomer and poet. As opposed to a reawakened demon bent on word domination... (pity!) He wasn't even a priest, so all they really used was his name. And yes, we were allowed to climb on the ruins!

The most famous sight in Macau, the façade and stairway are all that remain of this early-17th-century Jesuit church. With its wonderful statues, portals and engravings that effectively make up a 'sermon in stone' and a Biblia pauperum (Bible of the poor), some consider the ruins to be the greatest monument to Christianity in Asia to help the illiterate understand the Passion of Christ and the lives of the saints.
