Not a real elephant its a stone elephant
A lot of the teples were fitted with these windows, with stone shaped like wood. Soemtimes they blocked the window entirely, so it wasn't really a window at all.
A peice of an ancient temple...is it being buried, or being uncovered?
Originally, most Angkor temples used to be the centres of cities, so this path used to be lined with shops, houses, and all those other fun things that exist in cities. Needless to say, they have all turned into dust now.
One of Angkor's smallest temples, but the quality of the carvings here is amazing
Shiva performing his dance, which brings about the end of this world, and the beginning of a new one.
Tells the history of the temple in Ancient Khmer script, which apparently is different to modern Khmer script...I wouldn't know either of these things if I hadn't eavesdropped on someone else's tour
I believe this is the spot where they filmed a scene in Tomb Raider...I scoured the ground for Angelina Jolie's footprints
This temple was left basically in its original condition, being reclaimed by nature. Very atmospheric.
"Om Om Om" - tree, whilst eating a temple
Johnny, my Tuk-tuk/motorbike driver. 19 years old. Very nice guy. Dreams of studying at university, but has no money, so he works as a driver from sunrise to sunset for $2 a day, taking travellers and backpackers around to the temples. Hope things get better for him sometime soon.
Is it a sheer wall? No, it's a staircase. Some of these stairs have ridiculous gradients.
