Mr Vuey is one of the happiest souls I have ever met :) and Keith thinks he is amazing. Every day when Keith wasn't out painting, he was so concerned about Keith that he gathered the teachers and gave them an update on Keiths whereabouts. Keith had quite a following with the teachers. Primarily led by the Elder and Mr Vuey. Truly outstanding individuals.
So, so proud of Keith for this. There was lots of sweat put in - literally - heat of 40 and knuckling down hard. The bloke is a superstar :)
Looks great, eh?!
This photo was taken outside the room that Keith was painting. It is first thing in the morning, before classes, and already the kids are gathering, waiting for Keith to open up. Endearing is an understatement.
Pamela and primary class. It is an absolute joy to work with the kids. Every day I learn so much. Hmmm, wonder who really is teacher?????
On our way to goodness knows where, just thought it would be a good idea to show you guys the most common form of transport in SE Asia!
From our bedroom window. Thought I best put some 'non-people' photos on here or father will crack up at not getting any local cultural insights!
We were not intoxicated in this one!
Pam, Victor, Charlie and Keith. These amazing young guys made our 6 hour boat journey seem like 1 - fantastic!
This was the happy greeting at every local stop on our 6 hour boat ride. The local girls come down the hills to the boat to sell hand woven garments. Truly endearing.
Why is it always a good idea to take pictures of yourself after consuming vast quantities of alcohol????? No lippy either, gosh, I really was drunk!
By crossing the river in a long boat
Not too sure of this one. Mother don't get hysterical, this was at a proper shooting range where full instruction was given before firing live shots. As for me, I was well behind the shoot proof glass and couldn't/wouldn't touch one single gun. Heart pounding even as I look at this photo!! Keith wanted me to type the saying, is that a gun in your hand...Hmmm, hee, hee
Nok, Keith, Pam and David. This captive picture was taken just before we played paintball. Of course, Nok and I 'splatted' Keith and David good.
Which one is which????
See, Mother, I was actually there! Hee, hee...
Aren't they just gorgeous?
There is a story to this one that I'll type as a blog entry. You will be amazed.
The guys were so, so orange from the dust, if we had cotton socks on, we would have giggled them off.
... after an hour of uphill quadding (just invented a new word there, I think). By this point we where somewhat kaput, although, so high as kites we probably could have flown back down the hill rather than drove!!
Yep, our intrepid guide was called Bond - double oh seven at his best!
The quads were amazing :)
First day quad biking. The pair of us look like wild west scoundrels (ok, ok, enough comments from you on that one!!)
The first day Keith painted, the teachers took out the scaffolding, took one look at Keith, ran off and came back with more planks of wood to hammer on. Keith is slightly taller and slightly more muscly than the teachers. The extra planks worked a treat and helped get a great job done.
