Hood canal is a fiord, very long and relatively narrow, with a sharp elbow at this southern end. It was named for a Lord Hood.
The water wheel was built in 1923 by Edwin Dalby to power his electric shop equipment.
This is in the roaring town of Allen, WA - take your eye off the road and you've already passed it. However, the store used to bill itself as the worlds largest retail outlet of chainsaw art. I didn't see that sign any more, I wonder if someone else has surpassed it or I just didn't see the sign?
There are a lot of carved bears, eagles and salmon, but I thought this was a rather interesting piece.
There isn't any sign to explain it, but I think this has some sort of historic architectural or other significance?

This is just off Cape Flattery, WA, the farthest NW point in the continental US.
There is quite a bit of wild life off Cape Flattery.
A lot of commercial ships use the Straight to access west coast ports such as Vancouver and Seattle, Tacoma. The mountains in the distance are on Vancouver Island, in Canada
This is a very common plant up here in the wet Pacific NW.
This was a little rock, a little north of Tatoosh Island. This was at the maximum (12x) zoom, plus cropping (equivalent to about 30x zoom?)
