Arata was a Basque veterinarian, working in Lago Agrio, very near the Colombian border
This small boa constrictor was tightly wound around an overhanging branch on the river
she was adorable, cuddling whoever picked her up, even sucking on proffered fingers, hoping to get milk from them
It´s the kingfisher again! Different species though
The trees get all the nutrution they need from the water
Boat speeds are strictly limited on the laguna
Some of the trees took on characterful shapes
Like a chinese print....
I loved the lake forests - these trees thrived on being wet
The laguna was a place of unearthly watery beauty, full of hidden life
Paddling in over 40'' with HIGH humidity is sweaty work...
Neiser was the most fantastic guide ever - there was nothing he didn´t know, and even after 8 years of guiding in the Cuyabena reserve, his enthusiasm was unflagging
Manola loved melon
Look again - she´s well disguised in the roof thatch of our hut in Samona - and she´s HUGE - about the size of a large man´s hand
Every day it rained, even though it was the dry season, and these vultures liked to spread their wings in the sun after a shower
This little chap was always to be found in the same place - it was his nest, high above the river
