This was the first time I saw a priest walk with the procession.
The anda was coming out of Santo Hermano Pedro Church at the end of the street. The mood was extremely festive with people dressed up with their version of the Jews of Christ's time.
Ladies that used to sell products in front Vey's house still return to make a rug on Easter morning. The neighbors provide flowers and they do all the work. I only provided watering for this rug and took pictures afterward.
Women processing in front of the anda of Virgin Mary bring with them lots of incense. The area is thick with the rich smelling white smoke in minutes.
The Anda carrying Virgin Mary crosses over the rug. Soon the cleaning crew will sweep away all that is left.
Here's a close up of the alfombra at Colibri. It had a larger center than the one we made a Vey's and had a little more depth to it.
Here I am with the completed alfombra in front of Colibri.
This alfombra had been full color with a beautiful geometric pattern. This is the aftermath of both Andas walking over it.
The Virgin Mary is dressed in black already mourning Christ.
This procession will go until 6:00 am and began at 4:00 pm. For 26 hours they wander the streets of Antigua in mourning for Christ's death.
