Taken in Bagan
Walked from our hotel (Thande) just on sunset to see this temple. Lots of locals arriving to pray, and the Burmese would have to be the friendliest peoples I have ever met.
Four nights in Bagan after boating down from Mandalay (and that was a total buzz), and it is awesome. Something like 2,000+ temples and stupas in the plain outside the ancient walls of Old Bagan. Most are something like 800 to 1,000 years old.
Just one view of Bagan's 2,000+ temples and stupas. Every tourist goes to the white temple (centre left) for sunset, while I found one totally empty and avoided the mayhem and constant camera clicking. I did enough clicking on my own!!!
After almost 11 hours cruising down the Irrawaddy river, we finally arrive in Bagan. A very hot day, and the welcoming pool and a/c is only a 5 minute drive away.
Took the express boat from Mandalay to Bagan. Virtually all passengers were tourists. First views of Bagan temples as we come within 5 minutes of landing at Old Bagan jetty.
The temples and pagodas of Bagan make for some of the best views in Asia. There are over 2,000 of them built on this vast plain.
