In the mornings, I get on the subway at about 7:09A. It is a free for all and people just push their way onto the cars. I do not speak Chinese and there is no term for "excuse me" that is similar to the English notion of "hey your bag is sticking into my back, could you please remove it?" or at least if there is, I do not know it.
The subway is fairly new here with two lines, 1 and 2, being older than the rest of the lines. This is line 5 which I take to school everyday.
The subway here reminds me of the tube in London...where there are doors that open so you can't just fall onto the tracks. These doors are in place in the new lines. Line 1 and 2 don't have them.
Lots of stairs, so I get lots of exercise.
This is the canal that is next to the apartment. The ice is finally melting.
Upon entrance and exit, you need to swipe your card at one of these machines. This is the exit to the Jingshan stop. These are students going to school.
The subway stops are all over Beijing and at each stop there are about 3-4 entrances/exits which take you in different directions.

I bought some children's books in this bookstore. It had so many floors and was crowded with wall-to-wall people.
