A stiffish climb up the pathway to Waynapichu gives this wonderful view of Machupicchu. You need to be reasonably fit to do this walk but the view at the top is worth the burning lungs and legs. Magic
The view from the top of Waynapicchu shows not just the layout of Machupicchu but in the context of the surrounding naural features. Machupicchu can be seen on the left of the picture half way up
Impossible to capture fully this place on film. It exceeded our expectations even with the huge build up we had. If you are going to go, go early. If you get the chance, climb the mountain behind, Waynapicchu for truly spectacular views of the area.
The original Mendoza townsite is known as the Area Fundacional and contains many streets with the original historical architecture still intact.
