There was a communal wedding ceremony at City Hall in Foumban, with crowds inside the hall and out. Each couple signed a register in front of the mayor, with both sets of parents also signing. Every time they did, the crowd cheered and shouted their approval. Weddings and funerals are communal events in West and Central Africa. Everyone's invited.
Ulva is a community of about 30. It is an island off an island (Mull). The Boathouse is the community pub/cafe.
This the Sanja Matsuri, where the locals carry their mikoshi, portable but very heavy shrines, to the Asakusa Temple, Tokyo. I loved seeing the enthusiasm as everyone joined in to lug in around a hundred shrines. But this particular one attracted more interest, followers and photographers than most. These red balloons were released right around the stadium.
