A favorite octogenarian French pasttime. These guys had some means shots.
On our rainy day we walked from Luz-St. Sauveur to Bareges at the same time a big bike race was scheduled to come through that stretch of villages. The French love their cycling.
Definitely not one of the things we were expecting to find in Lourdes, a huge tourist and pilgrim site

Perperikon (or Hyperperakion) is situated in the Eastern Rhodopi Mountain range, some 10 miles from the town of Kurdzhali. The roads from Sofia, via Asenovgrad or Parvomay, are good and well maintained. Perperikon is situated on a rocky peak at 1,400 ft altitude above sea level guarded by the village of Gorna Krepost [high castle]. The gold-bearing river Perpereshka flows nearby forming a valley some 7 miles long and 2.5 miles wide. This fertile sheltered place had attracted settlers from ancient times, and today. Dozens of sites clustered around the natural hub of Perperikon reveal layer upon layer of archaeological remains. Just a little further downstream, the Perpereshka flows into the artificial lake of Stouden Kladenets on the river Arda. Where the two bodies of water meet, is the village of Kaloyantsi, a scenic place with some tourist facilities. "In the Eastern Rhodope, near the town of Kurdzhali, a bare rock rises. Legend has it that in the remote past, the peak was called 'the rock home of the Sun God.' Ancient historians claim that somewhere around, high in the mountains stood the shrine of the Thracian God Dionysus—the site where two major prophecies were made that were to leave a mark on world history."

Boasting an electric, near palpable energy, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is Vietnam’s largest metropolis and its undisputed capital of commerce. For the casual visitor, Saigon – as its still called by all but the city officials who live here – can seem a chaotic mess of traffic-clogged roads and urban bustle, with nary a green space in sight. Yet thousands of expats and Vietnamese immigrants couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. They’ve long since fallen prey to the hidden charms of one of Southeast Asia’s liveliest cities.

It was first built in 1049 in the reign of King Ly Thai Tong. legend has it that at time King Ly Thai Tong was very old and had no sons of his own. To repay the gift from Buddha, the king ordered the construction of a pagoda with was supported by only one pillar resembling a lotus seat on which Buddha had been seated. The pagoda was dedicated to Buddha.
Huế is perhaps best known for its historic monuments, which have earned it a place in the UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. The seat of the Nguyen emperors was in the Citadel, which occupies a large, walled area on the north side of the river. Inside the citadel was a forbidden city where only the concubines, emperors, and those close enough to them were granted access, the punishment for trespassing being death.
As the capital of Vietnam for almost a thousand years, Hanoi is considered to be the cultural centre of Vietnam, where every dynasty has left behind their imprint. Even though some relics have not survived through wars and time, the city still has many interesting cultural and historic monuments for visitors and residents alike.

The highest statue to have been found until this moment in the San Agustin (Los Idolos) surroundings. It represents the goddess of the moon and measures about 7 meters (only from the soil that is)!. Of course I quickly installed myself alongside this important symbol of female fertility.
