Upper level was built ordered by the Medicis when they moved to the Pitti Palace across the Arno. Could use the upper level as a walkway to/from offices and palace. Originally Butcher's Bridge; butchers would throw old meat into the river - Medici changed it to Gold and Silversmiths

Although interesting - he was more of an art history lecturer than a tour guide. We walked for blocks and blocks without dialogue of what we were seeing or where we were going. Then, we would stop and have a long, repetive lecture about the artwork.
The Santo Spiroto church is an anomoly in the city of Florence. Looks like a chapel in a Mexican village. Inside, it is splendid Italian. It contains a wooden crucifix attributed to be one of the first of works by Michalangelo
