If they all rolled together as one, they could escape like Nemo.
A solitary goldfish in a plastic bag just doesn't compare does it?!? OH China. How I love thee.
Mmmmm....double steamed milk. So tasty that I returned to the same restaurant twice to order it! Some people came in just to eat this one dessert. Guangzhou is known for its delicious food and rightly so - pure YUM.
This simple hook *amazed* me. The hook was used to hang meat and fish with the upside down bell shape being used to keep ants from getting at the meat since it would be filled with water! GENIUS.
Wonder what it'd fetch on eBay?
Jim sips a beverage as we leave Guangzhou for Hong Kong (the vehicle we are riding in is from Hong Kong and the steering wheel is on the right side of the van instead of the left, so I was not driving carelessly - although Kimberly said she "freaked out" every time she looked up and I wasn't watching the road)
Renee shares her McDonald's cheeseburger with Grace in the van as we prepare to leave Guangzhou for Hong Kong
They sell some delicacies at the convenient store down the street from our hotel that you just don't see in the States (vacuum-packed meats - pork chops(?), chicken feet and wings, and duckling(?) across the top row, with spicy little fishes in the middle of the next row surrounded by something that resembles rolled beef jerky, among other unidentifiable items)
Grace just fits underneath the glass desktop (the ponytail on top of her head that brushes the under-side of the desktop reminds me of the antennae at the top of the pole of a bumper car that brushes against the metal ceiling above)
Grace empties the folded clothing from the bottom drawer while Renee uses a scale to weigh a suitcase
A small Circle-K store in Guangzhou
Wide boulevards and lots of tree lined streets with fancy colonial-era architecture. Didn't really expect it from Guangzhou!
Grace, Kimberly and Renee pause momentarily in front of another hotel for one last photo on the way back to our hotel room (and our warm, soft, comfortable beds)
Eric, Ashleigh and Sarahjoy enjoy dinner with David and his wife as Renee spins the "lazy susan" to share the various dishes
Gathered around the table with our AHH guide David, his wife, son and mother-in-law
Renee, Grace and Kimberly pose for yet another photo op
Grace and Kimberly wait outside while Renee "negotiates" another bargain (notice the new suitcase behind Grace's stroller?)
Kimberly, Renee and Grace pose with "Jenny" after buying out the store (we spent a lot of cash at this shop, can you tell by the size of the pink bag in Kimberly's hand? ..... and the smile on Jenny's face?)
Kimberly and Grace stand waiting to leave next to the store clerk as Renee browses "one last time"
A sign at the A Gift From China shop explains the story behind one of their products, the knitted dolls
Grace decides to go undercover (and we're just getting started!)
Kimberly, Grace and Renee dwarfed by a towering sculpture of jade
Renee and Grace pose one last time (you can't have too many!)
The whole "fam" gets in on this one
