The 1st characteristic to mention: Netherlands is a flat land lying next to the North Sea, which means sea-gulls, winds and watery.
Here is a management meeting. Seagulls - especially large ones- are resourceful, inquisitive and intelligent birds, demonstrating complex methods of communication and a highly developed social structure.
In Chioggia we had a "the room with view". It was very much upstairs (like 6th or 7th level), but we had a window to the canal. When fisherman's boats return from the sea we could watch the traffic from our room. Gulls guarded fish-boats - kind of friendship with interest. Gull traffic increased proportionally to boat-traffic on the canal. Sometmes it seem that birds were going to enter into the opened window - so fast they cut the sky.
The statue stands outside Exeter Cathedral.
