This red lantern tree really says: Welcome to Beijing!
Each pathway along Di Tan had different decorations overhead. This was pink and red ornaments
At the fair, there were lots of vendors selling everything. These were sculptures of monuments made out of balsa wood.
These pin wheels were popular at the fair. The sides would spin and make a clacking noise.
These bottles had zodiac designs and the workers write your name on the inside. My host parents bought me one that had my chinese and US name in it.
These traditional crafts were a popular hit. They are made by cutting out parts of the paper.
These are wooden sculptures of famous sites in China that were for sale.
These little girls are wearing traditional headresses as costumes for the fair.
Offerings being made at Di Tan
Temple of Heaven. On Chun Jie, people stand in line to make offerings to the gods at the temples. The temple closest to my Beijing apartment is Di Tan or the Temple of the Earth. This is the location of the offerings. People were standing in a line that was about 2-3 hours long.
Architecture really tells you where you are
Just like in US, there were games and prizes to win. My host brother said the games were hard to beat. Hmm..just like in the US
This man was holding one of the various choices of fair goods to purchase. I thought the pink cat balloon was fitting.
These lions were dancing and performing acrobatic stunts. There were many different performances throughout the park and lots of people watching them.
These ladies were performing a dance by one of the minorities in China.
The performers had large drums and were dancing to the music.
The red lanterns are beautiful and I wish they were up all the time.
This design ushered us into the Di Tan fairgrounds to enjoy the sights and food.
