Wonder creation in white marble ..

Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata was built in the memory of Queen Victoria of England. After the demise of Her Majesty, the idea of building a memorial hall in her name was first thought of by the then Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon who left India at the end of 1905. This exquisite marble architecture was designed by Sir William Emerson and was opened in 1921, 5 years ahead of its schedule opening ..

A heavenly Shikara ride

The Dal Lake in Srinagar in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India is 8 Km long and has a of width of 4 Km, spreading over a total of 26 Sq. Km. If one is in Srinagar, boat rides in Dal Lake is an experience. These colourful boats are called Shiksaras and one could just get rowed for hours. You would find floating gardens within this lake, and if you should push the garden down into the lake with a stick, it would float up again. I found people in boats picking up whatever they have grown.

A garden to please his queen

The ancient history of development garden has been traced to the 2nd century. However, It is here that Emperor Jahangir built his celebrated Shalimar Bagh in 1619, his dream project to please his queen Nur Jahan. Located on the shores of Dal Lake, this beautifully terraced garden Shalimar Garden in Srinagar adds to the beauty of Kashmir. It is called Shalimar Bagh, in which "Bagh" would mean "garden" in Urdu.

Shalimar - one of the mughal gardens in srinagar

Shalimar Bagh, is a Mughal garden linked through a channel to the northeast of Dal Lake, on its right bank located near Srinagar city in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Bagh (garden) was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his wife Nur Jahan, in 1619. The Bagh is considered the high point of Mughal horticulture. Recent history of the Mughal types of gardens is credited to Emperor Jahangir of the Mughal Dynasty, the ancient history of the garden is traced to the 2nd century.

Not normally known for Fall foliage, the floor of this Louisiana pine savanna is alive with colorful swamp cyrilla. Taken at the Abita Creek Flatwoods Preserve in Abita Springs, operated by The Nature Conservancy.

A view from Aru valley

Aru is a tourist spot in the Anantnag District of Jammu & Kashmir, India & is noted for its scenic meadows, lakes and mountains Aru a base camp for trekking to the Kolhoi Glacier and Tarsar. There are about 20 alpine lakes, peaks and meadows around the Aru Valley. In the winters, when Aru receives heavy snowfall it provides a great skiing arena. The altitude in Aru ranges from over 9842 feet to 18,000 feet (3000–5425 m) above sea level. I took this photo while driving to Pahelgam from Aru. Looking at it I think I should have had more patience.

The wonders of mother Nature ..

We stayed in Pahelgam in Jammu and Kashmir for 3 days. Aru is situated at 7,200 ft above sea level. We drove to Aru from Pahegam, a small yet self-sufficient scenic village located 15 km from Pahalgam. The village of Aru is situated among the grasslands and could be reached by car or by walking along the scenic mountain path .. The way to Aru is full of grandeur of mother Nature and this is one of them ...
