This type of lizard from the agames family is seen all over Nepal from the low plains up to an altitude of 400 meters. It is absolutely not shy and watches the watcher with great interest. It's eyes can move in two different directions at the same time. One eye scanning the area for a butterfly and the other kept on the approaching person...just for in case....

They al seem to pose like this for photos, hey? This one is the biggest one I've found so far... he was very photogenic.. and almost two feet long. really beautiful colours... was along the trail near Wentworth falls.
I found this little guy, about 8 inches long, on a stone in a creek while hiking. The flash spooked him and he ran through the water to the shore and off into the forest.
