This park was a LOT bigger than expected. Lots of people seemingly with no work to do just stretching, doing tai chi and gossiping in Chaozhou which I immensely enjoyed. This park, dotted with temples here and there, was also where I crashed a religious procession...
This statue is housed in Chaozhou's most famous attraction, the still active Kaiyuan Temple built in AD 738. This picture shows the front of Guanyin - there's still a whole lotta' arms to the side and at the back which you can't see in this picture!
Note that there's a unique middle part made out of boats strapped together with planks of wood! Perhaps they ran out of stone? Or perhaps, instead of a drawbridge, this middle bit could be quickly dismantled to let big boats through on the River Han? Who knows...
Me in my ancestral home of Chaozhou!! This is on the famous Guangji Bridge, built in the Song Dynasty, which crosses over the River Han.
We were staying under the part of the roof which they are fixing...
This photo was taken on the 88th floor of the Jinmao Tower , China's 2nd tallest building at 420.5 meters. In it, you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower, arguably the modern symbol of Shanghai.
No, this isn't me practicing the Chinese toilet squat. It is me failing at doing a jumping photo next to the China pavilion (or should I blame the person holding the camera...). I won't tell you how many tries I had. Suffice to say, my thighs got a workout.
