This is normally a dry sinkhole in the Leon Sinks geological area. Due to all the rain, a small pond formed at the bottom however.
Hammock Sink connects to a vast, underground cave system filled with water. Cave Divers have mapped several large rooms, as indicated in this diagram.
The entrance to the underground cave system is below the shelf at this end of the pond.
The water in Hammock Sink changes color, sometimes aqua and others dark tea color. Scientists aren't sure why this happens.

This was a big sinkhole just outside of town. I stopped to have a meal and rest my feet. lots of people driving up, stopping, walking by walking back in a few minutes... lots of them... I was just going to find a hitchspot. I didn't read the signs. decided to see what they were going to see... less than 50 metres away was this enormous sinkhole.. all landscaped in the bottom.. stepps going down.. the whole bit...
