At the Foot of the Serrano Glacier

The Serrano glacier lies on the eastern side of the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park in southern Chile. One can walk to the base or take a zodiac. This photo captures both means of getting up close and personal--and conveys the sheer size of the glacier with the boat dwarfed and even smaller hikers to the left. Taken with a Nikon D-90. Cropped.

Car Decorated for Traditional Blessing of Vehicles

Copacabana is the main Bolivian town on Lake Titicaca. On weekends owners park their vehicles in front of the cathedral to receive an elaborate 'cha'lla' or ritual blessing from priests. They decorate their vehicles and make petitions to the Virgin for protection.
