September 2008 followed a wet August with yet more wet weather!
The Avenue between Avebury stone circle and the West Kennet long barrow site. There are two lines of stones immediately accessible from the B-road from West Kennet. Avebury is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It probably dates to around 2700 BC.
Located near Keswick, it is the most visited stone circle in the Lake District National Park. The 38 stone circle is thought to have been constructed nearly 5000 years ago in the Neolithic.
